Intestinal Enterococci

Culture Medium: Intestinal Enterococci selective medium

Intestinal Enterococci are a group of bacteria associated with faecal contamination of water sources and have been specified by the IMO to be of particular importance in the assessment of treated ballast water.

The IMO-D2 specifications state that intestinal Enterococci may not be present in treated ballast water in a concentration of more than 100 cfu/100ml.

SeaSure, through combining the highly selective intestinal Enterococcus Selective Medium with the intestinal Enterococcus growth protocol, ensures detection of this group of bacteria right down to 1 cfu/100 ml – thereby future-proofing the test should the authorities decide in the future to decrease the detection limit.
